Rare Antique Japanese Military 1929 Embossed Blossom Infantry Army Sake Bottle

Regular price $0

This is an antique Japanese military sake bottle, decorated with a embossed branch of cherry blossoms with the words "Leaving the service commemoration" and "42nd Infantry" with the soldier's name Okano under the bottle. The bottle comes with original cardboard box and also a period newspaper wrapping it. The newspaper is dated to Showa 4th Year (1929) October 8th. The 42nd regiment was from the Hiroshima area, and the newspaper article here talks about the rise and fall of the rice industry in this region - so this is probably an original wrapper that has never been removed. It's very rare to have such pieces come together!

Condition: Bottle is in mint condition. The box has some surface damage to the labels but is structurally sound.

Size: 5.75" tall x 2" across
