Rare Antique Japanese Military 1936 1st Destroyer Flotilla Nambu Cast Iron Vase
This is an antique Japanese navy commemorative vase, decorated with a kiri on the front with the words that mean "At the touch of a hair" - probably representing the battle readiness of the unit, and the words at the bottom are "Looking south from the Northern Ocean". The words on the back are "Showa 11th year" "1st Destroyer Flotilla" and the maker's mark for Nambu Furukawa. Nambu is famous for making cast iron items like this one. The 1st destroyer flotilla included the ships Nokaze, Numakaze, Namikaze, and Kamikaze.
