Rare Antique Japanese Military Beijing Garrison Chaoyang Gate Army Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a picture of the Chaoyang gate of old Beijing. It's what gives the Chaoyang district now in Beijing its name. The gate was demolished in 1915 after it was severely damaged during the Boxer Rebellion. So this dates the cup to probably sometime before that, possibly even before the Boxers since the gate here is in good shape. The words on the cup are "Beijing Garrison 41st Infantry" "Leaving the service commemoration" and "Chaoyang Gate" in blue. The soldier's name Tanimoto is on the back.
Condition: One chip in the base ring. I am also selling another copy of this that isn't chipped.
