Rare Antique Japanese Military Clothing Factory Establishment Commemoration Lacquer Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a pair of words "Commemoration". On the exterior of the cup are the words "Army Clothing Factory 50th Year Establishment Commemoration" and "Showa 10th Year (1935)". This is for the 50th commemoration of the establishment of the army clothing factory in Tokyo, in what is now the Yokoamicho park where there's a memorial to those who died in the Tokyo bombing raids. The building was destroyed during the war. The Hiroshima branch, however, still stands today. You can see its Japanese wiki entry here. The cup comes with a wooden box with a sticker under the lid for the makers of Aizu lacquerware.
