Rare Antique Japanese Military Cruiser Azuma Long Distance Voyage Commemoration Navy Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a naval insignia and a flag. The words are "Training squadron Azuma long distance voyage commemoration" and the sailor's name Shionotani. The Azuma was a Russo Japanese War era armored cruiser that fought in the major battles then. It was then given over to the training squadron where it took long distance voyages to train midshipmen in navigation. The ship actually survived until 1945 in disarmed form and finally was bombed in Yokosuka in July 1945 and then scrapped after the war.
