Rare Antique Japanese Military Infantry Sake Bottle with Stopper
This is an antique Japanese military sake bottle, decorated with an embossed wreath and a flag and chrysanthemum in the middle. The words are "Leaving the service commemoration' "9th Infantry 2nd Company" and the soldier's name Yatsuka. The bottle is embossed on the other sides with flowers, and it comes with a ceramic stopper of the same colour. I don't know if all bottles used to come with the stopper, but they are pretty rarely seen. The stopper is by no means air tight (I believe it's made more air tight by wrapping cloth/cotton around the actual stop - sort of like a cork stopper that way).
Condition: Excellent - the gold on the stopper is quite faded.
Size: 5.75" tall x 2" across
