Rare Antique Japanese Military Kawasaki Ka 87 Bomber Army Lacquer Tray
This is a rare Japanese military themed tray, decorated with a Kawasaki Ka 87 (in reality a Dornier N) bomber, flying over some water and landscape with a Mount Fuji. The plane was a German design and produced in Japan starting from 1928. It wasn't very good as a plane - it wasn't very stable and couldn't carry a very large payload, but there were also few alternatives so they kept making it until 1932 when Kawasaki came up with experimental replacements. The plane was the mainstay of the Japanese bomber force until about 1937. It was active during the Manchurian Incident. The words on the tray are "1st Flying Regiment" "Discharge Commemoration". The words on the back are "Made carefully by Okuroya".
Condition: There's some cracking along the right edge and on the back of the same edge.
