This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a photo transfer picture of General Oshima Hisanao. He was a divisional commander during the Russo Japanese war and fought under General Nogi in Port Arthur. The words on the front are "Lieutenant General Oshima" and on the back "Sole rights for sale - Kutani Hayashiya" - the name of the maker. This would've been made before 1906 as he got promoted to full general after that.
