This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a quite rare rank insignia (superior private) and also an acting-NCO chevron. The words are "Unit Disbandment Commemoration". The words on the exterior are "19th Infantry Regiment" and the soldier's full name Kamino Jyusan. The glaze of the cup has a natural crack that ages over time - the lines become more obvious as the cup gets used more.
