Rare Antique Japanese Military Tsushima Fortress Garrison Infantry Army Sake Cup
This is a pretty rarely seen Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a kiri and a poem. The words on the cup are "Tsushima Garrison Infantry". Tsushima is, of course, the island in between Japan and Korea and traditionally served as a midway point for trade between the two countries. As Japan took control of both, the island took on a strategic significance between it guarded the important water passage between these two, and so was heavily fortified with a number of gun emplacements. The soldier's name Sakagawa is also on the cup.
