Rare Antique Japanese Military WW2 Home Defense Unit Army Sake Bottle
This is an antique Japanese military sake bottle, made in Bizen-ware style and decorated with the words "Great East Asian War Commemoration" "Chubu 48th Unit". This is a reservist/home defense detachment of a regular infantry regiment, I think in this case the 54th. These were units filled with previously injured soldiers, older reservists, etc. The term "Great East Asian War" wasn't in use until right around the time of Pearl Harbor.
