Rare Antique Russo Japanese War Nozu Michitsura Signed Lacquer Army Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, made of lacquered wood and decorated with the big words "Loyalty and Bravery". The words in vertical on the left side are "Field Marshal Nozu Michitsura" with his signature (the really squiggly thing) at the bottom. The words on the back are "Russo Japanese War Victorious Return Commemoration" and "Kohama Township". The cup comes with original wooden box and is stamped with the name Ishida on both the lid and the side of the box. Nozu Michitsura was promoted to be a field marshal during the Russo Japanese war for his service as the commander of the 4th army in the field. He died soon after in 1908.
