Rare Japanese 1922 Prince Edward Visit Welcoming Rally Lacquer Sake Cup
This is a rare and unique Japanese sake cup, decorated with a pair of flags, one of which is the Union Jack. The words on the back are "British Crown Prince Welcoming Student Rally Commemoration". This is for a rally at Hibiya Park in Tokyo that had what looks like a few thousand students welcoming Prince Edward (later King Edward VIII) to Japan for his visit. This was when Great Britain was still allies with Japan. Inside the base ring of the cup has the words "Made by Taishodo". The cup comes in original wooden box that also has the sticker for Taishodo under the lid. The words on the lid are "Commemoration".
