This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a photo of vice-admiral Uryu Sotokichi, named on the cup as vice-admiral. He was a vice-admiral starting in 1904 until 1912. In the Russo Japanese war he was the commander during the Battle of Chemulpo Bay, a victory for the Japanese where they sank the Varyag and the Koreitz was scuttled. He was honored for his victory there and was an important commander for the IJN during the war.
