Rare Russo Japanese War Victory 1906 Map Army Sake Cup
This is a rare Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a beautifully detailed map of Japan, Korean peninsula, and Manchuria colored in red, with other territories in yellow. There's a flag on the Korean-Manchuria border. The words on the exterior are "Meiji 39th (1906) Year April 20th" and in the middle "9th Division". In 1906 the Treaty of Portsmouth was already signed and the war had ended, and so this was effectively the Japanese sphere of influence you're seeing - Korea was under Japanese rule, thus the flag at the border, while the parts of Manchuria were partially controlled by the Japanese. At the time of this cup the 9th Division was stationed in Korea. This is in effect a victory celebration cup for those who were part of the division.
