Rare Russo Japanese War Victory Wreath Hiroshima City Army Sake Cup Set
This is a very nice set of Japanese military sake cups, decorated with a wreath with a silver and red background of the sun with rays motif. The words in the center of the cups are "Recognition of Official Merit". The words on the back are "Meiji 37/38th Years War Hiroshima City". Hiroshima, of course, is the city that eventually got bombed by the first nuclear bomb in 1945. This set of cup was probably given by the city government to someone who made a significant contribution. The three cups have identical design and wording and is meant as a stacking set. Cups are almost naturally suited for the sun with rays motif since they're round, but somehow they're quite rare.
Condition: The middle cup has a small chip at 5 o'clock. Otherwise in excellent condition with minor surface blemish.
