Russo Japanese War Dragonfly Victory Lacquer Army Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a very nicely done dragonfly. The words on the cup are "Victorious Return". The words on the back of the cup are "Atake Loyal Patriot Volunteer Association". Atake would've been a place name and these were patriotic societies formed around various parts of Japan as a sort of soldier support organization - and these cups were given to returning soldiers. The dragonfly motif is most often used during the Russo Japanese war as one of Japan's name is the isle of dragonflies.
Condition: Excellent - the words on the back are a bit faded
Size: 4.25" across
