This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a chrysanthemum and a scroll. The contents of the scroll is about an edict from the Meiji Emperor, coming through from his ADC General Okazawa. It's about the Korean garrison army and how the emperor is thinking about their health and wellbeing, and that they should all be well rested given the harsh winter conditions. It's received in Hamgyong province in Korea - on the NE corner of the peninsula bordering Russia. The edict is dated Meiji 39th Year October 9th.

Condition: Two chips of the paint at 12 and 6 o'clock
