This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a badge of the Order of Rising Sun, and the words are "9th Division Russia Conquest Commemoration". The name of the kiln Kutani is on the back. This cup is made of porcelain but painted red to imitate lacquer, because lacquer cups were more expensive and prestigious.
