This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a bunch of cherry blossoms, the big words "Victorious Return" and the smaller words "Meiji 37/38th Years War". The words on the back are "Oyama-town Victorious Return Soldier Welcoming Association". This cup may have been given to every soldier from this town who came home from the war. There's a label for a lacquerware shop under the lid of the box.
