Russo Japanese War Victory Shobukai Lacquer Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a bunch of leaves on the front. The words on the back are "Meiji 37/38th Years War Victorious Return Commemoration" and in the base ring "Hoi Township Shobukai". The Shobukai was an organization that supported martial arts and the military before the war. It's now been revived but is purely a martial arts organization now I believe. The cup comes in original wooden box, with a sticker under the lid for the shop that made the cup - near Nagoya. It also comes with a sheet of paper stating that the cup was given to soldiers who participated in the unprecedented victory of the wars of Meiji 37/38th Years and this cup was given to the soldier for their service. It is signed by the head of the local Shobukai, Shimanouchi Moya. The cup also comes with original cotton lining. Hoi township was located in Aichi prefecture, near Nagoya.
