Very Rare Antique Japanese 1916 Seattle Sojourners Return Visit Commemoration Lacquer Sake Cup
This is a very rare antique Japanese sake cup, made of lacquer wood and decorated with a pair of flags, one of which is the Stars and Stripes. The year 1916 is on the front. The words on the back are "North America Seattle 4th Visit to Home Country Sightseeing Tour Commemoration", and inside the middle "Taisho 5th Year". This is for Japanese sojourners in Seattle, who probably organized trips back home to visit sites. These were the people who eventually ended up in internment camps in WW2. Seeing the Union Jack on a lacquer cup is incredibly rare. The US flag is missing some stars too.
Condition: There's a spot on the back where the lacquer paint is chipped, please see pictures.
