Very Rare Antique Japanese Battleship Mikasa Propeller Division Lacquer Navy Sake Cup

Regular price $0

This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with an anchor with a propeller, a flag, and a crane and turtle which represent longevity. The words on the cup are "Gift to Mr. Yoneyama Kei". On the back of the cup are the words "All Members of the Warship Mikasa Propeller Department 3rd Division". This would have been a gift to a departing comrade gifted from everyone else in the same unit. Mikasa, of course, requires no introduction - it was the flagship of Admiral Togo in the Battle of Tsushima and the pride of the Japanese navy. The ship is now a museum ship in Yokosuka.
