Very Rare Antique Japanese Military 1907-09 South Korea Suppression Army Sake Cup
This is a very rare antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a pair of flags and a badge of the Order of Rising Sun. The words are "South Korea Suppression Commemoration" with the soldier's name Morita. This is a campaign in response to armed uprising in Korea from about 1907 to 1909 when militia were formed to fight against Japanese imperialism while Korea was still under the puppet government the Japanese set up. After this was suppressed (with tens of thousands dead on the Korean side) Japan formally annexed Korea in 1910.
