Very Rare Antique Japanese Military 1910 Battleship Kawachi Launch Commemoration Navy Sake Cup
This is a very rare antique Japanese navy sake cup, decorated with an anchor with chain topped with a cherry blossom, with a chrysanthemum on water theme in the center. The words on the front are "Kawachi". The words on the back are "Launch Commemoration" "Meiji 43rd Year October 15th", which is 1910 Oct 15th, the launch date of the newly built batttleship Kawachi. Kawachi and her sister ship Settsu were Japan's first dreadnoughts, followed by the Fuso class. The launch ceremony was attended by the Meiji emperor himself.
Launch items are extremely rare, because of its one off nature - launches only happened once for every ship.
