Very Rare Antique Japanese Military 1925 Battleship Fuso Prince Takamatsu Service Navy Sake Cup
This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a 3, 5, 3 leaf kiri, used for cadet branches of the imperial house. The words on the back are "Warship Fuso" "Prince Takamatsu ship board service commemoration". Prince Takamatsu was the younger brother of the emperor Showa. He was a naval officer and the Fuso was the first ship he served on. He was continuously promoted as a naval officer and actually served on the Fuso again as a division commander and was eventually in service on the naval general staff during the war. It's quite rare to find named ship cups, especially of the bigger ships and with an imperial family member's service being the commemorated event.
