Very Rare Antique Japanese Military 1928 Battleship Kongo Gunnery Competition Winner Navy Sake Cup

Regular price $0

This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with an anchor insignia with the word "Award" in the center. On the back are the words "Showa 3rd Year" (1928) Warship Kongo Gunnery Officers Competition Award". This is probably for the winner of some gunnery exercise for officers responsible - probably for sighting/hitting target practice or some such. There's a maker's mark in the center on the back. The cup is made of pewter. Any named ship cup is pretty rare, and for a battleship gunnery practice with a specific date, extremely so.

Condition: There's some surface wear on the front - small scratches and spots that are some kind of small damage, as pewter is quite soft.

Size: 4" across
