This is a pair of postcards commemorating the launch of the cruiser Atago in 1930, second ship of the Takao class and the most heavily armed cruisers in the world at the time. The words on each of the cards say "Warship Atago Launch Commemoration" "Showa 5th Year June 16th". The one with the ship sailing also says "Kure Naval Arsenal". The one with the confetti has the banner saying "Atago". The cards are unused. As launch only happens once for ships, it is among the rarest of all navy artifacts.
