This is a very rare antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a picture of a flying boat on the front. The words on the back are "Kawanishi Large Flying Boat Completion Commemoration". This would suggest the launch of a new design from the Kawanishi company which made various flying boats/floatplanes for the Japanese military. This plane in the picture is the Kawanishi H8K "Emily" - launched in 1941. There's only one other similar looking plane, the older H6K, but that one has two fins at the back and this is a single fin plane.

The cup comes with original wooden box, with the label of a shop in Tokyo.
