Very Rare Antique Japanese Military Battleship Settsu Voyage Navy Sake Bottle
This is an antique Japanese military sake bottle, decorated with a very detailed painting of the battleship Settsu - the picture being clearly hand painted with great detail. The words on the bottle are "1st Fleet Warship Settsu" "Voyage Commemoration". The sailor's name Fukutaka is on the back.
Settsu was a Dreadnought battleship finished in 1912. It saw service during WW1, but then was struck off the list during the Washington Naval Treaty's disarmament in 1921, so its career as an active warship was fairly short. The bottle commemorates some kind of voyage - it's not clear what this refers to, or if may also be a maiden voyage commemoration. In either case, quite a rare find.
