This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a star in the center. The words on the side are "Qiqihar Flying Squadron" and the soldier's name Yamashita. Qiqihar is a city in northwest Heilongjiang province, then a part of Manchukuo. Units stationed around here were for defense against the USSR and later tended to be very active first in China and then moved south for combat during WW2.
