Very Rare Antique Japanese Military Siberia Invasion Railroad Map Army Sake Cup
This is a very rare and unique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a map of the Trans-Siberian railroad with the words "Siberia" up top and "China" on the left. The colored part is obviously the Japanese empire. The blue marks on the map are traditional Japanese depiction of military units with the 凸 symbol, marking where the unit had been during the campaign. The words on the back are "Infantry 68th Regiment Victorious Return Commemoration". This refers to the Siberian Intervention, when the Japanese invaded Siberia in response to the Bolshevik Revolution. It was ultimately unsuccessful. The 68th served mainly in the Transbaikal region - which is why you see the square near the lake, denoting its HQ at the time.
