This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with an insignia of the balloon unit in the center with a rim of cherry blossoms around it. The words on the exterior are "Taisho 3rd Year (1914) War Balloon Unit Victorious Return Commemoration". Inside the base is the words "Saitama Prefecture Irima Township". This commemorates Japan's victory over the German forces in Shandong province in a pretty quick conflict where they took over German territories in China. Balloon units, of course, are very rare.
