Very Rare Antique Japanese Military WW2 Guangdong Wuhan Capture Mitsubishi Corp Army Tea Cup
This is a very rare antique Japanese military lidded tea cup. The cup is decorated on both sides. One side, with red planes flying over a map, is a map of the city of Guangdong (Canton) and surrounding areas. The other map with the blue plane is the city of Wuhan. Both fell around the same time in Japan's initial attack during its invasion of China in 1938, and represented the last major victories during the campaign - after this the war entered the "meat grinder" phase with little progress on either side. Under the lid is the logo of the Mitsubishi corporation - still in use today - and the words "Wuhan Canton Capture Commemoration" "Imperial Year 2598 October". This translates to 1938 October. There's a maker's mark at the bottom.
The blue plane is a Mitsubishi Ki-2. I can't quite find a plane in the Japanese air service that seems to match the red one.
