This is an antique Japanese military sake cup, decorated with a map of North China. The sea is in the dark, silvery colour, while a railroad and the Great Wall are marked. Locations on the map include Shanhai Pass, Tianjin, Beijing, and Qinghuangdao. The land is marked with a striking image of sun with rays. The words on the back of the cup are "Before and after the Russo Japanese War North China Garrison Commemoration". This was presumably a commemorative cup for a unit that served time as part of the North China garrison that also fought in the Russo Japanese War of 1904-5.
